The Oxford to Cambridge pan-regional Partnership is pleased to announce that it has joined the board of Water Resources East.
The water agenda is an integral part of the Partnership’s environment work programme, reflecting the region's well-documented water management challenges and the role water security plays in supporting sustainable and inclusive growth across the region.
In supporting Water Resources East to deliver its Regional Water Resources Plan, adopted in December 2023, the Partnership is joining across-sector collaborative effort to tackle water scarcity and ensure natural resources are managed effectively and appropriately into the future.
Cllr Bridget Smith, Chair of the Partnership's Environment Sub-Group, said: " Water is a critical resource, and collaboration is key to its long-term availability. We are excited to join Water Resources East and support its crucial work in securing a long-term water supply so the region and its communities can thrive in a sustainable way."
The Oxford to Cambridge pan-regional Partnership’s addition to the board supports and advocates Water Resources East's commitment to bringing together a broad range of stakeholders to address the region's water challenges.
"We are delighted to welcome the Oxford to Cambridge Partnership to the Water Resources East board," said Paul Leinster CBE, Chair of Water Resources East and Non-Executive Director for the pan-Regional Partnership. "We are looking forward to working with the Partnership to support us in our ambitions to tackle water scarcity and ensure there is sufficient water for environmentally sustainable economic growth and a healthy natural environment now and for generations to come."
